Winter's Warning
In the third-season premiere, Sue is forced to face a painful memory when she crosses paths with a grizzly bear. Elsewhere, the Bassichs set up a fishing wheel to feed their sled dogs; the Hailstones run into trouble net fishing; and Erik travels to Kodiak Island to hunt for food.
Calling the Wild
Andy is forced to cut a new trail to his hunting grounds; Sue waits for a fuel delivery before beginning her nine months of isolation; trapping season is off to a bad start for Erik; and the Hailstones hurry to complete their winter preparations.
Return to the Wild
Glenn worries about bears as he returns to his wilderness campsite; Andy and Kate's apprentice practices his survival skills while avoiding frostbite; and a recent injury has Sue worried about her ability to last the season.

In the weeks just before freeze up, our four households are focused on last ditch efforts to bring in enough meat and supplies to enable them to make it through winter. But hungry grizzly bears and unpredictable weather pose a constant threat – and soon bone-chilling cold will add to their minute-by-minute test of survival. Among the many adventures featured in this series, Chip and his family embark on long treks in the blistering cold of the Arctic in their search for remote new hunting grounds, Sue navigates a new all-terrain vehicle back to her remote outpost home across 100 miles of desolate tundra in the dark and -50F temperatures, while Andy and Kate take on the task of teaching a newcomer how to survive life off the grid.
